Founded by Derek Jayson Rusch and past co-founder, Tyler Offutt, “Insightful Chicago” emerged in April 2020 with a distinctive mission: to amplify diversity and inclusion within the Chicago commercial real estate market. At the core of our vision was the recognition of a crucial gap in panel platforms that specifically catered to the voices of women, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

In response to this gap, our commitment was to establish a dynamic and inclusive space for fostering meaningful dialogue, with a particular emphasis on providing a platform for people of color. The objective was not only to create a forum for open communication but also to shine a spotlight on industry role models within these communities, sharing their compelling stories and experiences.

Through meticulous planning and dedication, we initiated virtual and live panels. Each panel was designed with a thoughtful approach, aiming to create an atmosphere where individuals from diverse backgrounds could freely express their thoughts, experiences, and concerns. Our overarching goal was to cultivate an environment where participants felt secure and unencumbered, devoid of the fear of judgment or exclusion.

As we progressed through the panel discussions, Insightful Collaborative officially launched under the leadership of Founder Derek Jayson Rusch, along with the establishment of the Advisory Council and National Board in 2023. Our primary mission was to champion inclusivity on a national scale. These platforms served not only as sanctuaries for marginalized voices but also played a pivotal role in dismantling barriers and advancing a more equitable landscape within the commercial real estate industry.

Guided by the unwavering belief that diversity and inclusion are not mere ideals but fundamental pillars for a thriving and progressive community, our journey continues. Insightful Collaborative is dedicated to fostering nationwide inclusive spaces and platforms. We prioritize creating environments that ensure the safety and openness for women, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community to freely express their thoughts, experiences, and concerns—unencumbered by judgment or exclusion.
